Traditions

In our family ever since I can remember we have done the same thing each memorial day. Although it is a lot different than it used to be growing up we still do the same things. We begin our day by visiting two cemetaries in Ogden to put flowers on the graves of family since passed on. At the second cemetary we always meet up with the Thurber side of the family to sit on chairs or blankets reminiscing about my grandparents and Aunt Linnea, laughing a lot, and throwing around a football or frisbee. Though our numbers have dwindled to almost nothing, those there still reminisced, laughed, and yes, threw around the football and frisbee. My niece Emma found great joy in playing catch with us and running around the cemetary.

After we have had our fun had the cemetary, we all loaded into our cars and drove to Heber City where we went to Uncle Jay and Aunt Phyllis' farm where they had animals, tire swings, and more importantly, the pond. We spent countless hours playing in the water and riding in canoes on that pond. A few years ago after Uncle Jay had passed on, Wal-Mart bought the farm from Aunt Phyllis and she now lives in a nice new house. It's weird to go somewhere different, but it was still fun to go and see family there. I think most of us left with a nice sunburn...

This year, after we left Heber we drove to my aunt Bonnie's house in Salt Lake for a visit. My brother Ben and his family are in Utah this week for a couple of weddings so we met at Bonnie's house to see them and their kids. It was a lot of fun to be together and especially to see my cute nephews Logan and Dane.

Seriously a great day with great people who I love!

Aunt Phyllis' house

Even with chocolate smeared on her face she's such a cutie!
Emma couldn't get enough of this flag! Every time the wind blew it in her face, she'd laugh and say, "It winded me!" SO cute!
She also got a hold of this ukulele and loved playing it.
Horsey rides!
Daners must have been starving! He resorted to licking off someone's plate... Adorable!
Me and the niece and nephews!
Halloween and Bonnie with Emma

Aren't they just the two most handsome little boys?
