Just some thoughts...

School is over in two weeks, yes in TWO weeks! In two weeks, I will be a college grad! It is such an overwhelming thought to think about being done with school and having to venture out into the "real" world, but I can't help but feel some relief knowing that I will have accomplished something great. I've been feeling kind of overwhelmed with everything I have to do before the semester is over, but the knowledge I have that the Lord is on my side and there to help me has really given me the extra strength I need to make it through. Plus, yesterday, church was just amazing so I feel like the extra spiritual charge I got from hearing so many great testimonies and lessons was just what I needed to know that I can make it through these next two weeks. Once I make it to the end of the semester the fun part of really focusing on finding my dream job looms ahead of me.

Speaking of jobs, I had my first job interview last week and after it was over, I just wanted to go hide under a blanket and never come out again. It was that bad (at least I feel like it was). The interview was over the phone and I was totally unprepared for it as I thought they were just calling me to set up a time to actually do it. And technically it was just a pre-screening so it wasn't even a real interview. Either way, when I got the call from them saying they were calling to actually do the thing, I immediately got super nervous. My mind went totally blank as I tried to think of the things I learned you should and shouldn't do in an interview(thank you Business Spanish class for teaching me that), which means I probably did all the things you SHOULDN'T do. The interview was half in Spanish, half in English. They asked me to say the alphabet in Spanish and I did fine until the letter h, which I totally forgot how to say. This silly song I learned way back in middle school Spanish popped into my head and I was trying to sing it(in my head) to help me remember, but my mind blanked in the same spot. So, I just skipped it and was able to finish the rest of the alphabet without a problem. That was embarrassing! Luckily I made it through the English alphabet (that would have been REALLY embarrassing if I'd forgotten that.)

Long story short, I am not feeling very optimistic about this job, but as far as interviews go, I can only go up from here, right? I sure hope so! Thanks for letting me vent a little; sometimes it's nice to have a blog just so I can do that. Now to get back to writing my 10 page paper...

PS This video is one of my favs so I have to share it. SO hilarious! You gotta love blind dates...

Pinterest!

Ok ok, I am sure that most of you are already on pinterest and know how great it is. I've heard how wonderful it is but just never took the time to go look at it. I decided one day to just search for simple new hair ideas and fell in love! I found this super cute (and easy) style and have gotten SO many compliments on it. I am officially a fan of pinterest and if you aren't one yet, then go check it out!

Don't judge me if my hair doesn't look as good as hers; I'm still perfecting it...

Weekend Getaway

Oh how nice it is to take a break from school and work and just get away for a few days! Such was the case this past weekend when I went with my parents to Arizona for my niece Taylor's blessing. We really didn't do much more than be together. It was a very relaxing, much needed break. We flew into Phoenix and spent a couple of days in Queen Creek at my brother Ben's house. Here are pics from that portion of the trip.

My adorable niece Taylor

Me and my nephew Dane
What a happy dad!
The Bryner's plus Logan
The other Bryner's plus Taylor
Grandparents and Grandkids
The entire group. Man do I sure love these guys!
Dane my cheeser nephew
Logan
The boys loved playing in the backyard despite it being cold outside. (yeah, we thought we left Logan to escape the cold, but we just went to a somewhat warmer cold place)
We ventured down to Tuscon area for a few days after leaving Ben's house and spent a few days with Clark, Lindsay, and Taylor. That meant blessing time! Taylor looked SOOO cute in her dress. She is such a happy little baby so the day was perfect. Here are pics from that portion of the trip:

This trip was lots of fun and I am so glad I went! I am already looking forward to seeing all my family at Christmas time.

Happy Halloween!

I hope today is the bees knees for everyone. Since you are never too old to dress up on Halloween, I got into the Halloween excitement and wore this little number to work. It was a hit!

Doin' the Charleston

I hope your day is full of candy, fun, and hopefully nothing too scary.

PS: if you like the song "Party Rock Anthem" by LMFAO, some people made a Halloween light show to it on their house . If you haven't seen the video, you should watch at least a little bit of it because it is CRAZY cool!

This is Gonna be a Good Weekend!

This has already been a good weekend and it's still only Friday. I didn't really want to watch all of the USU, BYU football game, but once we decided to make a party out of it, I was all in. How about that 80 yard run by Turbin in the first 15 seconds of the game? AMAZING! Sadly though, we did our usual Aggie thing and screwed things up for ourselves by letting the Cougars score in the last minute(literally). SOO depressing! I wanted to throw things at the tv out of anger and cry at the same time when it was over...

This is Turbin:
On a happier note though, tomorrow and Sunday is General Conference. That will help me get over my post-game depression right? I LOVE conference and can't wait to hear all the wonderful messages from the great leaders of this church! And my Aunt Bonnie is coming up for a visit, so that is another bonus! Hope you all have great conference weekends!

Homecoming

If any of you are Aggie fans, you probably already know the sad outcome of the homecoming game this last weekend. I didn't actually go to the game because I had to work, but I did go to the homecoming parade. My brother Tom is the Director of the Special Olympics and they had a float in the parade, so we mostly went to go see that. We found some other surprises there too. Like this kid:
When one of the dance schools passed, dancing to the song "Party Rock Anthem", he did not hesitate to bust out his own style of shufflin' and the other kids around him followed with their own moves. He made my day!

Onto the main reason we went to the parade:

Where's Tom?
What a fun parade!

Ugly What?

I. am. obsessed! Obsessed with a certain show called Ugly Betty. I LOOOOVE it!!! I find no better way to relax than to lose myself in the life of one Betty Suarez. She kind of reminds me of me a little. If you have not seen it, I HIGHLY recommend it. Thank you Betty and the people of Mode for providing me hours of stress-free entertainment!

Knees, Spiders, and School

This past weekend I drove down to Riverton,UT and spent two days with one of my favorite people ever; my aunt Bonnie! She recently had a knee replaced and I went to go keep her company/ help her out. We had a lot of fun(or not depending on what we were doing) going to physical therapy, receiving visitors, attempting to watch movies, doing facials, talking, and laughing. I took my camera with me to capture some of our moments together, but of course, I never took a single picture. Typical me. Still, it was a fun weekend and I am so grateful that Bonnie let me come stay with her. Love you Bonnie!!!

Now I thought about posting a picture for this next segment of post, but knew that some of you might get a little freaked out by it. You know those big, ugly, brown, nasty things we like to call hobo spiders? I HATE THEM! I don't know what is going on this year, but they sure seem to be entering our house in droves. Just last night, I killed four of those suckers in under two hours! I wish they would get out of my life!!! They creep me out and just keep coming and coming... I just needed to get it off my chest how much these things bug me(no pun intended).

On a happier note, today is my last first day of school!!! Yep, I am starting my last semester of college! I'm kind of freaking out just a little that the end is so near because that means I really need to start focusing on a job and what I plan to do when I am out in the "real" world. Despite being scared out of my mind with what the future has in store for me, I still feel like this when I think about being done with school:
Oh and cute new clothes on the first day don't hurt either...

25 Years of Life

Yesterday I turned 25!

What a FABULOUS birthday! I went to the hot springs with the fam in the morning(we had the pool all to ourselves which was SO nice), and then we went and saw Harry Potter(yes, again. I think I liked it even more the second time), and after that, we came home and did all the preparations for the big birthday bash we had planned for that night. As most of you know, I share my birthday with my cousin Casey, so we had a joint b-day party.

We ate lots of food and cake and ice cream, opened presents, and just enjoyed a wonderful evening together. After the party, my mom and I went to the Cache County Fair and took a little ride on the tilt-a-whirl(it's my favorite ride), and then we came home and watched a movie. What a perfect day! Thank you to everyone who helped make the big 2-5 memorable!

This Summer I...

Spent two wonderful weeks traveling the east coast. My mom and I flew out to visit my sister Tamsin, her husband Sam, and their daughter Emma. Before I start talking about the trip, I wanted to talk a little bit about Emma. She knows how to try anyone's patience, is a bossy-pants, hates not getting her way and lets you know how she feels about it (very loudly), yet despite all that, she is still the cutest little girl EVER!!! Love you Em! Now scroll down, check out these adorable pics of my niece, and I will get on with telling you about my adventures in the east.

The first few days of our vacation, we stuck around the state of Virginia(that's where Tamsin lives). Right near where Tamsin lives, is the Manassas Battlefield. It is a Civil War battlefield where the Battle of Bull Run took place. You can drive around the different sites of the battlefield and see all kinds of old houses and other buildings and landmarks that survived the battle. While there, we learned that during the battle, the women who lived there in Manassas took picnic lunches out and watched the battle while they ate! Can you imagine doing that?

Me and Emma on a hike in the battlefield

We found this gorgeous butterfly on our hike

Statue of Stonewall Jackson(one of the Generals in the war)

While doing our own re-enactment of the war, Tamsin was shot down

We also went to Jamestown. If you remember your history or have seen the movie "Pocahontas", you'll know that this was the first English settlement in the United States. It was fun to go there and see ships they sailed on, the fort where they built the colony to stay protected, and even the village of the Powhatan Indians.

After a very hot visit to Jamestown, we drove to Colonial Williamsburg where we stayed the night. The next day we were able to spend the day in the 1700s and see how the Colonists lived. Colonial Williamsburg is such a beautiful place to visit. The weather was perfect that day(MUCH better than at Jamestown) so we were able to spend the entire day outside walking around and checking everything out. Here's a little sample of what we saw.

Colonial Fife Drummer?
We took a carriage ride around town. It was a great way to relax and just take in the history around us.

This is the Governors Palace. It was a beautiful house! Like a mini castle

While on a tour of the Palace, we learned the proper way to pose for a picture so I tried my hand at it when we left the tour. I don't really know how often I am going to pose like this...

I had to put this on here because I have never seen a cuter bathroom sign.

After we got back to the present, we prepared ourselves for the next part of the trip. We packed our bags, boarded a train, and spent the weekend in....

NEW YORK CITY

This sign conveys exactly how I feel about New York! I loved every minute of it! It is such a busy city and you are always going going going. I loved the diversity of the city and how even after three days of traveling and seeing things there, I could still be so in awe of it all.

We made it!

Once we got to the city and dropped our luggage off at the hotel, we took a taxi to my good friend Monica's apartment and spent the afternoon with her. It was SO good to see her(they just moved to NYC) and we had a fun afternoon together. Monica and her husband Garrett ate lunch with us at the Shake Shack(they had really good food), then Monica took us to Central Park where we went in search of a Carousal for Emma to ride.

Luckily we found it. Emma was reluctant to get on a horse at first, but with Monica's help, she finally decided to do it and she had a blast(I think all of us did)!

Emma adores Monica if you can't tell from the picture below.

After a long walk in the park, we took a taxi back to our hotel to cool off and just chat for awhile. I am so glad we were able to meet up with Monica. Thanks for spending the afternoon with us Monica and being our tour guide!

So, you can't go to NYC without going to a Broadway show right? Wrong! Between all the sightseeing and other things we wanted to do there, we just didn't have enough time to fit that it. So, next time I go there I have decided that I am just going to spend all my time eating, shopping, and going to shows such as this:

And this. So start saving your chavos so you can come with me.

Manhattan Temple. It also houses a ward building so this is where we went to church on Sunday

We found this baby right in the middle of times square! Go Church!

Times square was probably my favorite part of New York, especially at night.

But I like it during the day too

Our transportation in the city was mostly buses like the one below. We paid to do a bus tour and it was SO worth the money! Thank you blonde lady for blocking Daniel Radcliffes face

On our way to Ground Zero, we found this really cool sculpture. I love all the color!

This flag hangs in the 9/11 Memorial Preview building. That was such an emotional place to be in, but so neat to see this flag on your way out the door.

This is one of the new towers they are building at ground zero. It is going to be a really beautiful building.

You are going to be able to figure out where the rest of these pictures are so I am going to stop commenting for awhile and just let you enjoy these.

Once we got home from NYC, we spent the remainder of our last week going back and forth from DC. We got really good at taking the Metro there and despite the heat, we had a lot of fun seeing just a bit of what DC has to offer. Like this amazing view from the top of the Washington Monument

The US capitol

The Zoo

In the metro station after a long day of sight-seeing

I love all the old buildings in DC

Pics from the Museum of American History and Museum of Natural History

Smithsonian Castle

Carousel in DC
Julia Child's kitchen

The White House. Since the President lives in the White House this will be a good time to tell you all a little story. We were taking a little rest in the shade of some trees near the Washington Monument when we started to see this band of Motorcycle Police coming down the street in front of us. Why else would there be that many police coming unless someone important was riding in car behind them? Sure enough, it was President Obama's motorcade! That was pretty cool.

The Washington Monument

Another highlight of the trip was going to see Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 in Imax 3-D. OH MY! It was SO good!!! I'm not ashamed to admit that I cried during the movie and felt a little depressed knowing it is the very last Harry Potter movie that will ever be released. Ok, back to the vacation...

One of our last days of the trip, we took a drive to Virginia Beach. It is supposed to only be a little over three hours to get there, but due to heavy traffic that day, it took us SEVEN hours! Such a long drive, and when we finally got there and stepped onto the beach a storm moved in and they cleared the beach due to lightning. Luckily the storm didn't last too long and we were able to have some time in the water.
One more story for you. The pictures will tell it, but I will do some narrating as well. It started out when Emma and I posed for this lovely picture here(don't mind the tan lines. I know they are awesome). She decided to come sit in the water with me.

We walked out to the sitting spot,

took a seat and were enjoying ourselves,

When a wave came in and knocked Emma under the water. She was SO scared! I probably scarred her for life and she will never want to get in the water again! After that, the only way she got in was if somebody held her. I felt SO bad!

So, we had a fabulous time on our vacation as you can see. Thank you Tamsin and Sam for letting us stay at your house.
