Cupcakes, Temple, and the Circus

Wanna know what I've been up to besides job hunting? Here's a little sneak peek! I went to the circus for the first time. Yes, I am 25 and have never been to the circus. It was lots of fun!

We saw camels

 Acrobats
 More acrobats

 They had zebras
Crazy man balancing pots on his head
 Tightrope walkers
During a little break, Emma rode a pony
 She didn't really like it
The clown was probably the highlight of the circus. He did this really funny act before wowing the crowd with some amazing skills on the trampoline.

And what's a circus without elephants?

If any of you watch TLC, you most likely have seen a little show called "DC Cupcakes". Well, I went to the cupcake shop where they film it, and let me tell you; they have some of the best looking cupcakes ever! Peanut butter swirl, birthday cake, key lime, cherry blossom... The best part about coming here was the gluten free chocolate lava fudge cupcake. Seriously the best cupcake I've ever bought. I love that they had a gluten free option!

Everything I've done since moving here has been awesome, but going to the DC Temple tops them all. It is such a pretty temple(inside and out). It was weird actually having to travel to get to the temple, but definitely worth the time it took to get there. I really love the temple and am so grateful that I can go there and feel the spirit. I LOVE DC!

My niece Emma had a ballet recital today. Here's a little video showcasing her awesome 4 year old ballet talent. Enjoy!

The National Zoo

Yesterday we went to the National Zoo. We couldn't have asked for a more perfect day to go. The temperature outside was just right for shorts and a t-shirt. Seriously it was perfect. Not too hot, not too cold; just right! I went with my sis and her family and we had a blast walking around and seeing all the animals. I think we pretty much saw everything there (except for the birds which was the only thing that I saw last time we were there). That is THE coolest zoo and it's free so I will definitely be going back!

We rode the metro into the city. My niece Emma loves the metro!

This crocodile was staring us down

Is this not the coolest picture? She poked her head out just for me! :)

They have this really cool kids farm where the kids can actually pet the animals. Emma loved the donkeys.

 Beware of the piranhas!
They have recreated the amazon with animals running free. Unfortunately all we saw was a bird.
They had a giant pizza for kids to play on. Emma was scared to get off the tomato.
This is the escalator of death! You have to go up and down it to
get to the metro. If you're like me and have a fear of heights,
it's no bueno.
So far I am loving being here and am excited for more adventures(and of course, to find a job)!

Last Utah Post

My last week in Utah was a crazy, busy, emotional, and fun-filled week. One of my mission companions came to Utah from Guatemala and stayed with me for 5 days. As I was trying to finish up my packing for the move to DC, I don't feel like it was a very fun visit for her, but we did manage to throw in some fun while she was with me. We went and walked around USU's campus. It was a beautiful, no-jacket kind of a  spring day. Oh, and most of these pictures were already uploaded on facebook, so if they are repeats for you, I'm sorry.

We went to the movies and saw Mirror Mirror.

I threw a big 70s theme party with friends from my ward. It was SO much fun! We ate fondue, played games, and watched a movie. And, of course, we dressed up!

We spent Easter Sunday with the Thurbers and Amy

And Sunday night, we got together with a couple of the Elders from our mission. It was tons of fun to catch up with them!

 Sibling love!

It was really hard to leave Utah, but I am SO excited to be here in Virginia starting my new adventure. Tomorrow we are going to the DC temple! I can't wait!!! Expect a post on that...
